Celebrating 11 Years!

So instead of grieving the loss of my precious fan I have decided to celebrate its life. For the past 11 years this beloved fan has lulled me to sleep with its sweet comforting sounds. But last night around 12:30am it came to an unexpected halt. It was starting to make some pretty weird noises and I decided to put it out of its misery(tear).

I bought the fan in the fall of 1997(my freshman year at OSU) at Big Lots for about 8 bucks! I was having trouble sleeping in my dorm room with my 3 other roommates(I was always the first to bed because I had a 7:30am class!) I loved how the purple and green matched my comforter. The fan has moved about a dozen times with me since then and helped lull not only me but several roommates and my husband to sleep. I remember when Jason and I got engaged I asked him if he was OK with the fan...luckily he said yes!

I really really loved my fan and have seen few nights without it! So thank you fan-for helping me sleep so soundly for over 3000 nights! You were one of the best 8 dollars I have ever spent.

I wonder if CVS sales fans?

A day full of my Favorite Things!

Today has been a great day! It started out with my favorite cereal-Honey Bunches of Oats with Chocolate Cluster(it is also Jason's fav) a cup of hot coffee and catching up on my favorite blogs! Then I went to Jazzercise-oh how I love Jazzercise! It is the best workout I have ever done for serveral reasons 1.) They play great music!2.) It mixes cardio and weight training-which makes for an awesome workout 3.) There are people of all ages and sizes there! There are more but you get the point. After Jazz I went to a few stores and picked up some GREAT deals.
When I got home I walked around to check out how our new garden is doing and saw this!

The first daisy to bloom! Next off to check the mail.

A free magazine and coupons :) ahhhhh Then after actually getting a few things done around the house I took a nap! There are few things the women in my family love more then coffee, chocolate and a good nap. After waking from my peaceful nap I made my way to my favorite coffee shop for a FREE drink.

They were giving out free samples of their new summer drinks- I got the green tea/mango! It was really good. Now it is time to catch up with my hubby who just got home from work then off to church where I will get to see some of my favorite friends.
Oh happy day!

A Week of CVSing-and a little Walgreens

Since the grocery deals were scarce this week I focused my bargain hunting energy on CVS. I think I did about 5 separate transactions(to maximize my $3/15 coupon)in 3 trips.

Here is what I got at CVS
6 Nivea shaving creams
1 Nivea lotion
1 Schick Razor/Trimmer
(My man is gonna have a nice lookin head/face)
2 Brut Deodorants
4 12 packs of Diet Coke/Sprite
4 boxes of cereal
2 boxes of granola bars
2 toothbrushes
2 face scrubs
1 bandaid
1 Q-tip
4 Dove deodorants
I think I paid about $6 dollars out of pocket and still have lots of ECB's!
Now Walgreens

Super Saving Saturday-Meijer Trips and Freebies

I had quite a week of savings this week thanks mostly to a great sale at Meijer! I made two trips spending a total of $39.76 and saved(according to my receipt) $97.27!

As we were just starting to see the light at the end of our chex mix pill I got 6 more FREE bags! I just cannot pass up something that is FREE. I think the freebie fairies were on my side yesterday because after I put away all my stuff I got the mail and it was full of samples and a rebate check for $8! Since I seemed to be on such a roll I went to Macy's to redeem a coupon for a FREE pair of underwear(I ended up getting 2 free!)priced at 9.50 each(do people really pay that much?)
I must say thank you to my favorite blogs that have inspired and fed me all my deals!
Money Saving Mom
Mommy Snacks
Freebies for Moms
I just noticed that they all have Mom in the title and I don't have any kids yet :( Maybe I should change the name(in my own head) to Money Saving Sister, Aunt Snacks and Freebies for Wives! Whatever the title I LOVE reading these blogs daily for encouragement and the latest deals and freebies.

Green Thumb?

Well, I don't know if I would go that far but Jason and I have been doing a lot of work outside the past few weeks. Actually Jason has done most of it :) The first thing we did was replace our old landscape timbers that were rotting with stone. It looks so much better now.

Then with the help of some good friends we tore out the old planter around the light pole and put the stone border in. We also repainted the light pole.

And just this weekend we dug out a small garden next to our garage and planted some plants a friend gave to me for free. I am also hoping to plant a few vegetables this week.

Next Project(as Jason is shaking his head NO)? Yard Sale!

On a side note church this week was very good and challenging on Acts 15-How to draw lines differently. If you have a little time I would really recommend listening here or I could send you a CD.
